LAGOS, Nigeria — Decentralized Nigeria 2.0 will introduce the inaugural Decentralized Nigeria Awards, a new recognition platform aimed at celebrating individuals, organizations, and brands contributing to the growth of Africa’s Web3 and fintech ecosystem.
Organized by LyfebloodDAO of the United States and Cryptopreacher Academy, the Decentralized Nigeria Awards will take place during a Gala and Awards Night at Decentralized Nigeria 2.0 on August 15, 2026, at the MUSON Centre in Onikan, Lagos.
The organizers said the awards are intended to provide a dedicated platform for recognizing the people and organizations shaping the continent’s rapidly developing Web3 and fintech industries.
Decentralized Nigeria Awards aim to recognize African Web3 leaders
According to the organizers, Africa has produced a growing community of blockchain founders, developers, educators and fintech entrepreneurs over the past decade.
However, the sector has lacked a major awards platform dedicated specifically to recognizing achievements within Africa’s Web3 and fintech ecosystem.
The Decentralized Nigeria Awards are intended to address that gap by creating a formal platform for celebrating established industry leaders as well as emerging contributors.
Nova Phoenix, founder of LyfebloodDAO and a co-convener of Decentralized Nigeria 2.0, described the initiative as an important step toward giving the African Web3 industry greater visibility.
“For years, the people building Web3 and fintech in Africa have done extraordinary work without a stage of their own,” Phoenix said.
She added that the awards would provide the industry with a platform to recognize its leading contributors and highlight the work being done across the continent.
Awards will focus on industry excellence
Rume Ophi, co-convener and founder of Cryptopreacher Academy, said the awards are intended to establish clearer standards of excellence within the industry.
“This is not a popularity contest,” Ophi said. “We want to praise the industry leaders and also recognize new people entering the space in big ways.”
The organizers said the awards will recognize both established figures and emerging contributors who are making significant contributions to Web3 and fintech.
The initiative comes as blockchain technology, digital assets, decentralized finance and fintech continue to develop across African markets.
Decentralized Nigeria 2.0 expands beyond the conference
The awards will form part of the broader Decentralized Nigeria 2.0 programme, which organizers say will build on the inaugural edition held at the Civic Centre in Lagos.
The first edition brought together blockchain developers, industry leaders, regulators and educators for discussions around decentralized finance and the wider blockchain ecosystem.
The second edition will place greater emphasis on celebrating the people and organizations driving the industry forward, culminating in the Gala and Awards Night.
The organizers also envision the event as a platform that can strengthen Nigeria’s position as a gathering point for Web3 and fintech professionals from across Africa.

Nigeria seeks bigger role in Africa’s Web3 ecosystem
The introduction of the Decentralized Nigeria Awards comes as Nigeria continues to play a significant role in Africa’s cryptocurrency, blockchain and fintech ecosystem.
Beyond its large community of digital-asset users, the country has produced blockchain companies, fintech startups, developers, educators and industry advocates operating across local and international markets.
The organizers believe a dedicated awards platform can help highlight these contributions while encouraging greater standards of excellence across the industry.
Decentralized Nigeria 2.0 will take place on August 15, 2026, at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, with the Gala and Awards Night forming part of the event programme.
